Step 1

What do you need?

Choose one to get started.

How many rooms do you want air conditioning in?

Two or more rooms can usually run from one outdoor unit (a multi-split).

Tell us about each room

Rough sizes are fine. A double bedroom is usually "Medium", and an open-plan kitchen-diner is usually "Large".

What will you mainly use it for?

Every system we fit can both cool and heat, because they're air-to-air heat pumps.

Which style of indoor unit?

Wall-mounted is the most popular and best value.

Do you have a preferred brand?

We're registered installers for both Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric.

Where would the outdoor unit go?

Your best guess is fine. We confirm everything at the free survey.

How far is the outdoor unit from the room?

This is the length of the pipe run between the indoor and outdoor units, taking the furthest room.

What's your fuse box like?

Air con needs its own protected circuit. As electricians, we handle this in-house.

Tell us about your existing system

We service and repair all major brands.

When are you looking to go ahead?

Spring is the busiest time of year, so booking early gets you the dates you want.

      Why CT Electrical

Air Con Installers Who Are Also Electricians

Most air conditioning problems we see come from rushed electrics or badly sized units. Because we're qualified F-gas engineers and NICEIC Approved electricians, one team handles the whole job, start to finish.

      • REFCOM F-gas certified

Refrigerant work is legally restricted to certified engineers. Every install is pressure-tested, vacuumed, commissioned and logged.

      • Electrics done properly

A dedicated, RCD-protected circuit, installed and certified by our own NICEIC Approved electricians. No subcontractors.

      • Sized for your room

We calculate the output each room needs, so units aren't undersized (struggling) or oversized (short-cycling and wasting energy).

      • Rated 5.0 on Google

Over 100 five-star Google reviews for our electrical work, and the same standards on every air con install.

      Cooling & Heating

Air Conditioning That Heats Your Home Too

Modern split air conditioning is an air-to-air heat pump. In summer it moves heat out of the room. In winter it reverses and brings heat in, typically producing several units of heat for every unit of electricity it uses. That makes it far cheaper to run than plug-in electric heaters.

Running costs are lower than most people expect. A typical bedroom or living-room unit costs roughly 10–30p an hour at current electricity prices, depending on the size, the weather and how hard it's working. Pair it with solar PV and summer cooling can run largely on your own electricity.

      Servicing & Repairs

      Air Conditioning Servicing

An annual service keeps your system efficient, quiet and hygienic, and many manufacturers require one to keep the warranty valid. We clean the filters, coils and condensate drain, check refrigerant performance and the electrics, and record everything in your F-gas log.

Got a system that isn't cooling, is leaking water or showing an error code? We diagnose and repair all major brands, whoever installed it.

      Got Questions?

      Air Conditioning FAQs

How much does air conditioning cost to install?

A single-room wall-mounted split system typically costs £1,450–£2,800 installed in the Midlands, including VAT. Two-room multi-splits are typically £2,800–£4,500. The brand, pipe run, outdoor unit position and your electrics all affect the price. Use our instant quote builder for a price based on your rooms, then we fix it in writing after a free survey.

How long does air conditioning installation take?

Most single-room installs are completed in one day. Two-room systems usually take 1–2 days, and three or four rooms 2–3 days. Ducted systems take longer and are planned at survey.

Can air conditioning heat my home as well?

Yes. The split systems we install are air-to-air heat pumps, so they cool in summer and heat in winter. In heating mode they typically produce several units of heat for each unit of electricity they use, which makes them much cheaper to run than plug-in electric heaters.

How much does air conditioning cost to run?

A typical bedroom or living-room unit costs roughly 10–30p an hour at current electricity prices. The exact cost depends on the unit size, your tariff, the weather and the temperature you set. With solar PV, much of your summer cooling can run on your own electricity.

Do I need planning permission for air conditioning?

Most houses in England can have an air-to-air heat pump (air conditioning with a heating function) installed under permitted development, following changes to the rules in 2025. Listed buildings, conservation areas and flats can be different, so we check your property at the free survey.

      Are you F-gas certified?

Yes. CT Electrical is a REFCOM F-gas certified company, and our engineers hold F-gas qualifications. By law, anyone installing or servicing air conditioning that contains F-gas refrigerants must be certified. Always check before you book.

Do you do the electrical work too?

Yes, and that's what sets us apart. We're NICEIC Approved electricians, so we install and certify the dedicated circuit your air conditioning needs. We can also upgrade an old consumer unit if required. No subcontractors, and one team responsible for the whole job.

Can I get a grant for air conditioning?

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme now offers £2,500 towards air-to-air heat pumps in some cases, mainly where the system replaces fossil-fuel heating as the main heating in your home, and it must be installed by an MCS certified installer. Most cooling-focused installs will not qualify. Ask us and we'll tell you straight whether your project does.

Which air conditioning brand is best?

We're registered installers for both Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric, which are two of the most reliable brands on the market. We also install Fujitsu, LG, Samsung and Toshiba, which can be better value. We recommend whichever brand suits your rooms, budget and how you'll use it.

How often should air conditioning be serviced?

We recommend an annual service. It keeps the system efficient, quiet and hygienic, and many manufacturers require one to keep the warranty valid. An annual service typically costs £70–£150 per indoor unit.

      Which areas do you cover?

We're based in Kingswinford and install air conditioning across Dudley, Stourbridge, Brierley Hill, Sedgley, Halesowen, Wolverhampton, Wombourne, Wednesbury, Kidderminster and the wider West Midlands. Call 01384 869399 if you're not sure whether we cover you.
