Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before engaging CT Electrical Installations Ltd to carry out any work. By accepting a quotation, signing a work order, or instructing us to proceed with any works, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

1. Definitions and Interpretation

In these Terms and Conditions, the following definitions apply:

  • "The Company", "we", "us", "our" means CT Electrical Installations Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 14875499.
  • "The Customer", "you", "your" means the person, firm, or company who accepts a Quotation from the Company or instructs the Company to carry out Services.
  • "Services" means all electrical installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, repair, EV charger installation, EICR, consumer unit upgrades, and any other electrical works carried out by the Company.
  • "Quotation" means the written estimate or quote provided by the Company detailing the scope and price of the Services.
  • "Contract" means the agreement formed between the Company and the Customer upon acceptance of a Quotation, incorporating these Terms and Conditions.
  • "Site" means the premises or location at which the Services are to be carried out.
  • "Materials" means any parts, components, fittings, cables, or equipment supplied and/or installed by the Company as part of the Services.
  • "Working Day" means any day other than a Saturday, Sunday, or public holiday in England and Wales.

2. Quotations and Acceptance

2.1 All Quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue, unless otherwise stated in writing.

2.2 A Contract is formed only when the Customer accepts the Quotation in writing (including by email) or instructs the Company verbally or in writing to proceed with the works.

2.3 Quotations are based on information available at the time of survey. If additional work is required beyond the original scope, the Company will notify the Customer and provide a revised price before proceeding.

2.4 Any drawings, specifications, or documents provided in connection with a Quotation remain the property of the Company and must not be reproduced without written consent.

2.5 The Company reserves the right to refuse or decline any work at its absolute discretion.

3. Pricing and VAT

3.1 All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and are inclusive of VAT, which will be charged at the prevailing rate at the time of invoicing.

3.2 For day-rate or hourly-rate works, the total charge consists of the cost of Materials plus engineer time, including reasonable time sourcing materials not held in stock.

3.3 The Company reserves the right to adjust prices in the event of significant changes in material costs or other circumstances outside our control, with prior notification to the Customer.

4. Payment Terms

4.1 Unless otherwise agreed in writing, invoices are payable within 14 days of the date of invoice by bank transfer, credit/debit card, or cheque.

4.2 Deposits:

  • Domestic projects exceeding £1,500 require a 30% deposit no later than one week before the agreed start date.
  • Commercial projects exceeding £3,000 require a 30% deposit no later than one week before the agreed start date.
  • EV charger installations and specialist works may require a deposit at the time of booking regardless of value.

4.3 The Company reserves the right to withhold Electrical Installation Certificates, EICRs, test certificates, and all other documentation until full payment has been received.

4.4 If payment is not received by the due date, the Company reserves the right to:

  • Charge interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate per annum, accruing daily from the due date, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
  • Suspend or cease all further works until the outstanding balance is settled.
  • Instruct a debt recovery agency to recover the outstanding amount, with all associated costs payable by the Customer.

4.5 The Customer shall not be entitled to withhold or set off payment of any sum due to the Company without prior written agreement.

5. Cancellation and Cooling-Off Period

5.1 Domestic Customers: If you are a consumer and the Contract was agreed at your home or away from our business premises, you have the right to cancel within 14 calendar days of the Contract being formed, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Cancellation must be submitted in writing to [email protected].

5.2 If you request works begin within the 14-day cooling-off period and subsequently cancel, you will be liable for work completed and materials purchased up to that point.

5.3 Cancellation with less than 7 Working Days' notice before the agreed start date will result in the deposit being non-refundable, to cover labour scheduling and material ordering costs.

5.4 Where the Customer cancels with more than 7 Working Days' notice, any deposit paid will be refunded within 14 days, minus any reasonable costs already incurred.

5.5 The Company reserves the right to cancel or reschedule works due to circumstances outside our control (see Section 13). Any deposit paid will be refunded in full or rescheduled at the Customer's preference.

6. Customer Responsibilities

6.1 The Customer must advise the Company before work commences of the location of any concealed water, gas, electrical, telecommunications, or other services at the Site. The Company will not be liable for damage to any such services where this information was not provided.

6.2 The Customer must notify the Company in writing of the presence of any asbestos or asbestos-containing materials before work begins. If asbestos is discovered during works, the Company reserves the right to suspend works immediately. Testing costs will be borne by the Customer, in compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.

6.3 The Customer is responsible for clearing furniture, stock, or any obstructions that may impede the Company's engineers.

6.4 The Customer must ensure safe, unobstructed access to the Site and all relevant areas, plant, and equipment, in compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation.

6.5 The Customer must ensure that any third-party consents, permissions, or approvals (including landlord consent, planning permission, or Building Regulations approval) are obtained before work commences. The Company will not be liable for delays or additional costs arising from failure to obtain such permissions.

6.6 The Customer shall ensure all information and instructions provided to the Company are accurate and complete.

7. Carrying Out the Works

7.1 The Company will carry out all Services with reasonable skill and care, in compliance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), the Building Regulations, and all applicable legislation and NICEIC requirements.

7.2 Where, in the professional opinion of the Company's engineers, concealment of cables is impractical, cables may be surface-run using appropriate trunking or conduit. This will be discussed with the Customer where possible.

7.3 The Company does not allow for re-decoration, plastering, or making good of surfaces following works, unless expressly included in the Quotation. Work areas will be left clean and tidy upon completion.

7.4 Where the Company lifts carpets or flooring to carry out works, every reasonable care will be taken. However, the Company cannot accept responsibility for carpets or flooring not being replaced exactly as originally fitted.

7.5 If during the course of works the Company identifies electrical installations or equipment that present a safety risk, the Company may be obliged under its NICEIC obligations to refuse to connect or leave connected any unsafe wiring or equipment. The Customer will be advised of the remedial action required.

8. Materials and Equipment

8.1 All Materials supplied by the Company will be of satisfactory quality and fit for their intended purpose.

8.2 Title (ownership) of all Materials remains with the Company until full payment has been received. Risk of loss or damage to Materials passes to the Customer upon delivery to the Site.

8.3 Where the Customer supplies their own materials for installation, the Company accepts no liability for the suitability, quality, or performance of those materials. Additional time incurred due to defective customer-supplied materials will be charged at the Company's standard rates.

9. Completion and Certification

9.1 On completion of notifiable works, the Company will issue the relevant Electrical Installation Certificate or Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate as required under Part P of the Building Regulations and BS 7671.

9.2 Where an EICR is carried out and the installation is found to be unsatisfactory, the Company will advise the Customer of the remedial works required. The Company is not obliged to carry out remedial works unless separately instructed and quoted for.

9.3 All certificates and documentation will be withheld until full and final payment has been received.

10. Guarantee and Warranty

10.1 The Company provides a 12-month guarantee on all workmanship, effective from the date of completion and subject to full payment having been received.

10.2 This guarantee covers defects arising from faulty workmanship only and does not cover:

  • Defects caused by misuse, neglect, accidental damage, or interference by any person other than the Company's engineers
  • Fair wear and tear
  • Damage caused by power surges, flooding, fire, or other external events
  • Materials or equipment supplied by the Customer
  • Works carried out against the written or verbal advice of the Company's engineers

10.3 As a NICEIC Approved Contractor, Customers also benefit from the NICEIC Platinum Promise consumer protection scheme. Details at www.niceic.com.

10.4 To make a guarantee claim, notify us in writing within the 12-month guarantee period. We will arrange inspection and, where a valid claim is confirmed, carry out remedial works at no additional charge.

11. Limitation of Liability

11.1 Nothing in these Terms limits the Company's liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be lawfully excluded.

11.2 Subject to clause 11.1, the Company's total liability shall not exceed the total value of the Contract under which the claim arises.

11.3 The Company shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, special, or consequential loss or damage
  • Loss of profits, revenue, business, or contracts
  • Any loss arising from the Customer's failure to fulfil obligations under Section 6
  • Damage to concealed services where the Customer failed to disclose their location
  • Pre-existing faults or defects in the Customer's electrical installation unrelated to the works carried out

12. Complaints Procedure

12.1 If you are not satisfied with any aspect of our work, please contact us as soon as possible:

12.2 You must notify us in writing within 12 months of completion and allow the Company the opportunity to inspect and carry out any necessary remedial action.

12.3 As a NICEIC Approved Contractor and TrustMark Registered Business, unresolved complaints may be referred to NICEIC's consumer complaints scheme at www.niceic.com.

13. Force Majeure

The Company shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations where such failure results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, extreme weather, pandemic, industrial disputes, or supply chain disruption.

14. Regulatory Compliance

All electrical works will comply with:

  • BS 7671: IET Wiring Regulations (current edition)
  • Part P of the Building Regulations (Electrical Safety in Dwellings)
  • The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
  • The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
  • The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (where applicable)
  • OZEV requirements for EV charger installations (where applicable)
  • All NICEIC Approved Contractor requirements

15. Data Protection

The Company processes personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Full details are set out in our Privacy Policy.

16. Entire Agreement

16.1 These Terms and Conditions, together with the Quotation, constitute the entire agreement between the parties and supersede all prior agreements and representations.

16.2 No terms put forward by the Customer shall apply to the Contract unless expressly agreed in writing by the Company.

16.3 If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Both parties agree to attempt resolution through good-faith negotiation before commencing legal proceedings.

Important Notice to Domestic Customers: These Terms and Conditions do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, or any other applicable consumer protection legislation.
